A few months ago my lovely coworker had a weird encounter at a club. A casting assistant approached her and asked if she'd be interested in getting married on TV. Without hesitation, my friend quickly said no to saying her vows on the small screen.
Apparently, though, plenty of women were excited by the idea, because CBS is coming out with a new show, tentatively titled Arranged Marriage.
Here's the premise: four single adults get set up by their friends and family. Well, perhaps "set up" is an understatement, since the new couples will exchange marriage vows onscreen. The series will then follow their marriages.
I'll admit it now - I'm so going to check out this show because I think it's totally insane. Since arranged marriages aren't part of American culture, I can't help but wonder what kind of desperate people have agreed to partake in this show.
Will you watch? Do you think shows like this even deserve to be on TV?
