Would You Marry for Money?

What About the Other Things in Life?

That what's some iVillagers want to know.

iVillager gigijoue puts sex at the top of her list: "I could get married for sex, not money," she says.

Communication is key for iVillager lindsey210: "I sometimes think love and money is not enough. What it all boils down to is the ability to communicate."

Friendship weighs in, too, especially for iVillager laydeelin, who says she would not marry for money. "I married my best friend and a person with heart. As my 10-year-old says, 'We're not rich in money, but we're rich in heart.' And happy, too!"

Love Conquers All

Forget money, say the majority of iVillagers -- love is all that matters. Besides, it's important for women to be able to support themselves financially.

"I am a strong, capable woman who can be financially independent. I do not want to ever rely on someone's bank account," says iVillager kree8ive. "I married for love. That is the only reason to marry in my mind."

"When I was younger, perhaps I would have married for money," says iVillager mom01child, "but with age wisdom is supposed to come. Besides I have investments of my own and I can provide for myself. As you grow older you learn that it's the little things in life which are more valuable, like a loving and faithful spouse, a good friend, a smile, a wave and good life."

iVillager mrsart agrees: "After 20 years of being happily married and hopelessly not rich, I would still have to say that I would not marry for money," says iVillager mrsart. "We have seen ups and downs, but if not for love, we never would have made it. Money can satisfy for a while, but without love you have nothing."
