Would You Pay $197.57 for Pants That Will Get Rid of Cellulite?

An apparel company based in England is producing a line of products made from 24 karat gold that will turn back the hands of time. Or so they say...

Over the last few years, the price of gold has been worth a fortune. And now a British company claims their golden threads will make you look like a million bucks.

Proskins, which makes “innovative and high quality fitness garments,” is currently selling leggings that contain 24 karat gold (no, that wasn’t a typo). Their purpose — to eliminate cellulite.

Here’s the exact description of the item from the company’s website: Proskins GOLD is a revolutionary new anti-ageing beauty treatment that reduces the appearance of ageing, skin cells increase Hyaluronic Acid production and therefore, the skin gets moisturized, avoids wrinkles and recovers it's youth and elasticity. Price: $197.57

PS: As of this afternoon, this item is out of stock.

I must admit I was highly disappointed when I clicked on the site to discover a plain pair of black leggings since I was expecting a tighter version of the MC Hammer parachute pants. Be that as it may, I then stumbled across more must-have gold items on this site -- gold gloves (which will take away the old lady hand look for $72.00), a gold mask (which will take away the old lady eye look for the same price) and the gold gloves and mask set for $120.00

PS: As of this afternoon, they have sold out of the gloves and masks trimmed in black.

If you’re hoping these gold-lined luxuries have the ability to keep you from looking like a Golden Girl, then by all means shop away. Call me skeptical, but something tells me these items may not fulfill your beauty wishes. If anything, I have a hunch the street where these leggings are manufactured are paved with fool’s gold.
