More Judd Family Drama: Wynonna Files Lawsuit Against Stepfather

The country singer claims she loaned her stepdad $200,000 in 1994 to buy a house -- and is asking the court to foreclose on the property so she can be repaid

And you thought your family was dysfunctional. Last month, Wynonna Judd chose not to invite her sister Ashley and mother Naomi to her wedding (to her third husband, drummer Cactus Moser) -- even though she had the ceremony at her home and they live on the same property!

Now, according to TMZ, the 48-year-old country singer is filing a lawsuit against her former stepfather, Michael Ciminella (who is Naomi's ex-husband and Ashley's biological dad). Judd claims that in 1994 she loaned Ciminella $200,000 to secure against a house in East Louisville, Ky., and he has yet to repay the debt. Factor in 18 years of interest and late fees, and the sum is up to about $242,317 (according to Wynonna's calculations). Now she'd like the court to foreclose on his house, so that she might be repaid.

Ciminella's side of the story? His lawyer Jeffrey Thompson told The Courier-Journal that the loan was actually a gift. "Now that she needs money, she is attempting to come and get it back," Thompson told the radio station, WDRB.

So... here's a question: Was there a legal written agreement, or wasn't there? All the he-said-she-said hoopla makes for some nice headlines, but in the end, this matter ought to be settled pretty quickly. For this contentious family's sake, let's hope it is.
