Bad posture can trigger a migraine, so practicing yoga can provide relief for some sufferers. A small study in the journal Headache showed that migraine patients who practiced yoga experienced fewer, less intense headaches and used less medication than those who didn’t practice yoga.

“Some of the forward-leaning bends can be helpful in preventing migraines, and some of the postures feel really good when you get a migraine,” says neurologist Carolyn Bernstein, M.D., author of The Migraine Brain and founder of the Women’s Headache Center at Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge, Mass.
