Instead, this dream is really your subconscious working through its anxieties over the outcome of the birth, imagining what it would be like to experience this worst-case scenario. “It can be almost like a performance anxiety dream,” she says. “What bigger performance is there? You’re thinking, ‘Am I going to bungle this?’” But on the plus side, it also shows that you’re gaining a heightened awareness of baby’s physical presence and are preparing to protect it.
