Zac Efron might be one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, but that doesn't mean he thinks dating is easy.
The handsome star of The Paperboy told Ellen DeGeneres that he's currently single and explained why he hasn't found his match.
"Dating is kind of hard," Efron, 24, admitted on DeGeneres' show Oct. 4. "A forced awkward situation is very strange. Especially for me, for some reason. I like to go and do something adventurous. I like to go out and do some sort of crazy activity."
After a brief romance with Mirror Mirror star Lily Collins (who is now dating her Mortal Instruments costar Jamie Campbell Bower), Efron -- who famously dropped a condom on the red carpet of his animated film The Lorax -- confirms that dating in the spotlight presents unique challenges to having a relationship.
"You always have to be careful, I guess, about that kind of thing," he said. "Every day is a new experience and I take it as it comes. Some people I worry about, some I really don't have to."
The former Disney heartthrob, who dated his High School Musical costar Vanessa Hudgens for three years, also opened up about his controversial role opposite Nicole Kidman in The Paperboy. He described what it was like to dance around in his underwear for the pulpy new drama.
"It was a sort of a intense dramatic moment for me," he said. "I was very prepared to give my all in a dramatic moment, and before I knew it, music started to turn up around me and she kind of looked at me and said, 'You want to dance?' And they're still rolling, so I couldn't really say, 'Cut!' And before I knew it, we were improvising an entire dance in the rain. It's one of my favorite scenes in the movie."
