It's usually the ladies who experience wardrobe malfunctions on the red carpet -- but Zac Efron may have had a serious "oops" moment of his own! At Tuesday night's premiere of Dr. Suess' The Lorax, something that looked suspiciously like a condom fell out of Efron's pocket. Did the former High School Musical star actually drop a prophylactic on the ground at the premiere of a children's movie? Watch the video below and decide for yourself!
So here's what we see in the video: Efron, 24, walks onto the red (well, orange) carpet, takes off his shades and reaches into his pocket to hand some personal effects to a woman nearby (his assistant? his publicist?). While he's doing that, something flutters out of his pocket and onto the ground. It appears to be square in shape and made of gold foil -- exactly like, say, a condom. He quickly reaches down to pick it up, then puts his sunglasses back on while the woman bursts out laughing.
Afterward, Efron looks embarrassed, and even laughs as he turns away from the paparazzi for a moment to recover. And passersby also seem to be amused by whatever Efron has dropped on the ground.
According to the video caption on YouTube, Efron can be seen mouthing "Oh my God" when he turns around, though we're not sure we see this. The caption writer also claims that the photographers all burst out laughing; you can watch the original video here if you want to be the judge of that! (Skip to the 2:50 mark.)
So, if that is a condom, with whom was Zac intending to use it? Efron did duet with The Lorax costar Taylor Swift on a recent episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show -- but the two claim to be strictly friends. Of late, Zac has been spotted out and about with Mirror Mirror star Lily Collins, and he did admit to Ellen DeGeneres that he celebrated Valentine's Day by cooking dinner with "a friend."
Whatever the case, even though Efron's teen idol days aren't that far behind him, he is in his mid-20s now -- so it's not especially scandalous for him to be carrying around some protection. On the other hand, it's unfortunate that he flashed it at the G-rated screening of a Dr. Seuss movie. If only he'd skipped his own movie and gone to the Wanderlust premiere instead!
