Why: Ohio teenager Zach Veach is one of the youngest professional race car drivers in the United States. He’s been racing since he was 12 and last year took fifth place in the U.S. F2000 National Championship. Veach also has wrote a book 99 Things Teens Wish They Knew Before Turning 16, which covers everything from surviving high school to dealing with bullies.
In his piggy bank: Sponsors pay Zach $30,000 per-11 of his race events, plus an extra $350,000 if he finishes first in points at the end of the season. Proceeds from his book and phone app “ZaAPP”, plus $25,000 per application and speaking engagement on distracted driving for the Department of Transportation’s FocusDriven may very well make him the richest kid on the road.
